In Call of Duty: Black Ops III, challenges are available to player through the use of regular milestone achievements or feats, or as daily, weekly and special missions. Much like in other installments, challenges award primarily XP, but can also award weapon customization such as weapon camouflage and attachments, Specialist customization, calling cards and emblems, or currency such as Cryptokeys and Liquid Divinium. Challenge progress is not reset upon prestiging a weapon or player character.

Community challenges are global challenges available to all players consecutively where all players contribute to the same larger goal for rewards granted to the whole playerbase. Contributions to the challenge occur across all platforms concurrently.
